Hokulea 2015

This Is what we did In Term One. All of the Maniakalani Schools went to the Pt England Reserve and we did the haka and people waited patiantly and It took long but Everyone handled It.

Poly Fest 2015

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, faakalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!! It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific. This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a! Part of the celebration is the Polyfest! This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages. The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages. Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning? Awesome isn’t it!
People love  to participate in the polyfest, They liked to show people what they can do and show the world that their suitible, have a  amazing dance. Here are all the the steps  you need to do if your in the polyfest you need to audition, Practice, Training, Make Costumes or buy the Costumes, Fundraise, Concert, Transport, Perform. How does this event promote our different cultures? Well the event for 2015 will be extrodinary and  will be exiciting for alot of people that is going to be in the poly fest. In 2015, we will celebrate 40 years of the ASB Polyfest formerly known as the Auckland Secondary Schools Maori and Pacific Islands Cultural Festival. Why do you think young people and their whanau participate in this event? Because they learn alot of amazing moves and and they like to show the world what they can do.

My whole family came to my house and all my cousins, aunties, uncles had alot of fun. It was my birthday and we did lots of things. We had water squirts, lollies scramble and lots of other fun things to do. My birthday was at my mum and dads old house in Glen Innes.

I had to wait till all the kids to get ready to get there stuff ready so i can go to Glen Innes Centre so i can watch my cousin do her cook Island dance challenge. It started at 10:00 and it finished at 12:00.

I was in Whangarei and I had to wait for my big

sister to finished having a shower and getting change she took for long so my mum told me to go by myself.

Miss Peato's Birthday

I went to TC and I had lots of fun drawing.

We had to wait for the year 7’s to finnish the test.

Yesterday Morning all the Year 8’s went to tech at TC. Miss Peato let me pick what group I want to be In so I picked graphic. I picked graphic because I like drawing and meeting teachers from TC. I had lots of fun there. Miss Peato, and Miss Clark were with us. when we  came back we had to wait till they finished there test. When the year 7’s finished there test we all came inside and had our lunch. I had a  really fun day at school yesterday. It was Miss Peato’s birthday yesterday and she was happy, kind and amazed yesterday.

Mrs Telea's Birthday

Mrs Telea’s Birthday.

It was raining on the 16 of march 2015, I came late to school but I never missed the samoan dance that Mrs telea did and some of the students of Pt Egland School did it too. I never knew that it was my teacher’s birthday today I thought that It was just going to be a normal raining day but Mrs telea was  to carryed away she was so surprised that she was to puffed out when they finished the dance. she enjoyed her birthday present. She was  so enthusiastic that she wanted to stop but when she was just about to stop she did'nt she wanted to but she did'nt stop.. I never thought Miss Peato was going to join the dance. At first Room 3’s Writing Class sneak out and started  dancing. I were amazed of Room 3’s beautiful  Mrs telea's dancing. At when I asked Iisa what was happening I thought Wow look at how Mrs Telea is dancing. Mrs telea never stoped she was’ent shy at all to dance It looked like Mrs Telea was having a good time today. I was so surprised when Isa told me that it was Mrs telea’s Birthday. Mrs Telea was celebrating her birthday and her culture. It was so surprising for the rest of the other classes. All the other classes  might of thought what was happening and then they figured that it was Mrs telea’s Birthday. Mrs Telea had a beautiful costume she was wearing. She was wearing a kind of lavalava skirt and a top. The colour of the lavalava skirt and a top was all green and white. Miss Telea was wearing a white and pink sei in her hair. It looked so beautiful There was so many patterns on Mrs Tele’a costume that she was wearing.
